Another week, another number of standout games, highlights and individual achievements. The Athabasca Rivermen continued to show improvement as a competitive expansion franchise, as they played to a 2-1 first period against the High Prairie Redwings. After that however, the wings took advantage of their experience and some power plays, playing to a 7-1 final, led by a Noah Cunningham hat trick. In other action, the newly minted Hinton Canadians beat the Redwater Rebels 7-5 in a barn burner in Hinton, with Chase Basaraba netting the hat trick in that game. Other Friday action was the Eson Eagles "Crush" Crowsnest 6-0 in Edson, with Carter Sapach earning the shutout.
Saturday was equally entertaining, with the Crush rebounding with a win in a nail biter in Athabasca, 6-4, depite a 3 goal performance by the Rivermen's Kaden Varga. The Eagles beat the Redwings 7-3 to earn a 4 point weekend, while the rebels shut out the Thunder by a score of 7-0, courtesy of a Logan Moskal shutout.
Sundays only action saw the Crush battle hard in their 3rd road game of the weekend, losing 5-4 in a close one in Redwater.
